Running a Giveaway
Rules effective October 17, 2026
Giveaways are allowed on Streamster as long as anyone can enter for free, you post short official rules first, and you say “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY” whenever you promote it. You are the sponsor and you ship the prize. The binding rules are in Seller Agreement §6A; this page explains them.
1. The rules in one list
- Free to enter. No purchase, payment, bid, tip or subscription to enter, and buying must not improve the odds. One entry per person.
- You are the sponsor. Streamster doesn't run, judge or award giveaways.
- Official rules posted before you start, where entrants can see them (stream description or a pinned comment).
- “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY” every time you mention or show the giveaway.
- No cash prizes, gift cards or crypto; nothing on the prohibited items list.
- Total prizes under $5,000 per giveaway.
- You ship the prize free, within 7 days of the draw.
- Facebook and Instagram rules apply too: don't require sharing, tagging friends or following to enter.
2. Official rules template
Fill in the brackets and paste it into your stream description or a pinned comment before the giveaway starts.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase does not improve your chance of winning. Sponsor: [Your store name]. Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C., 18 or older. How to enter (free): comment "entry" once during the stream. One entry per person. Starts [date, time and time zone], ends [date, time and time zone]. Prize: [Prize, e.g. one sealed booster box] (approximate retail value $160). The winner is picked by random draw from all eligible entries when the giveaway ends and told in the stream and by message; the sponsor ships the prize free of charge. Odds depend on the number of entries. Void where prohibited. By entering you release Streamster, Facebook and Instagram from any liability; this giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed or run by them.
3. During the stream
- Start the giveaway countdown. It shows “No purchase necessary · see rules” under the timer automatically.
- Say “No purchase necessary” out loud when you announce it, and explain the free way to enter.
- When the timer ends, pick the winner at random from everyone who entered (a random-name picker on screen works well) and announce it.
- Message the winner for a shipping address and ship within 7 days. Keep a note of the entrants and the draw in case anyone asks.
4. Things that get a giveaway stopped
- “Every purchase is an entry”, “buy anything to qualify”, or extra entries for buyers.
- A cash, gift card or crypto prize, or prizes worth $5,000 or more in total.
- No posted rules, or a winner who never gets the prize.
We may end the stream and suspend the store. See the Live Selling Rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can I give an entry to everyone who buys something?
No. If buying gets you an entry, or a better chance, it is a lottery, which is illegal in most states. Entry must be free and buying must not help.
Can I give away cash or a gift card?
No. Prizes must be items, not cash, cash equivalents, gift cards or crypto, and they must be things you could sell on Streamster.
What if my prizes are worth more than $5,000?
Keep the total retail value of the prizes in one giveaway under $5,000. Above that, New York and Florida require registration and a bond before the giveaway starts.
Does Streamster pick the winner?
No. You are the sponsor: you pick the winner by a random draw, tell them, and ship the prize. Streamster only shows the countdown and the “No purchase necessary” line.
